Traverse Motion (E.g., Bridge, Trolley, Monorail, Conveyor)YES. PE® drives 5HP and under include a built-in resistor (Class D). For applications with motor sizes over 5HP, or applications that require a higher rating higher than Class D, a separate travel resistor bank is required. Select the TRAVEL RESISTOR option below and use the tables found on that page to select the appropriate travel resistor model number.
Hoist/Lifting Motion (WITH Mechanical Load Brake, or a locking worm gear).In most applications, NO.*
Hoist/Lifting Motion (WITHOUT a mechanical load brake)YES. An appropriately-sized Hoist-Duty resistor bank is required. Select the NO-LOAD-BRAKE HOIST RESISTOR option below and use the tables found on that page to select the appropriate hoist resistor model number.
*Some hoists with a mechanical load brake have some slip, even when adjusted to the manufacturer’s specifications. In these cases, a small travel-sized resistor is appropriate for use with the hoist VFD.
