Built for use in hoists/lifting applications WITHOUT internal mechanical load brakes. Resistor class/duty selection should be based on the CMAA Crane Duty Classification of your application.
Use the information in the tables below to match the appropriate resistor size and part number to your application. View the individual resistor product pages for more details on any item listed.
Contact PE® if your application has any special requirements (e.g., NEMA rating).
Do you know the HP (or kW) rating of the PE® VFD you are using? Use this filter to find your resistor model more quickly!
**Indicates a legacy (non-current) VFD model.

PE® No-Load-Brake Hoist Regen Resistors are built for use in hoist/lifting applicaitons WITHOUT internal mechanical load brakes. These applications will utilize a complete PE® VECTOR SYSTEM (consisting of a PE® vectoring VFD, a motor-mounted encoder, and these hoist-rated resistors) – all specially designed for no-load-brake style HOIST DUTY and use. Use the above tables to find the appropriate paring of PE® VFD models and resistors.
Unlike all other drive types in the marketplace, the PE® VFD line has the unique feature of having the ELECTRONIC portion of the regeneration circuitry built-in and integrated into all standard drives, thus giving PE® drives the highest reliability in overhead crane/hoist applications. Also, it makes for a very simple and quick installation of the drive with no expensive electronics (regeneration or dynamic braking options) required. All that is needed in addition to the drive, are the specially designed “touch-safe” external PE® regeneration resistor banks.
Only use PE® resistor banks for highest reliability and safety. It is NOT advisable to use “open-form” resistors on any variable speed drive. The use of open-form “off-the-shelf” resistors are a hazard to life and property when used with variable speed equipment. High DC Voltages are present, which have the capability of being life-threatening, even for a short period of time after the main power has been removed from a control panel.
